Chaplaincy Team Newsletters

Our Chaplaincy Team:

Our school Chaplaincy Team consists of Liturgy Leaders (Year 6) and Followers (Years 1-6) children. They are responsible for the Prayer Life of the school. Together, they encourage children to participate in different acts of worship and promote prayer in school life by preparing and leading collective worships throughout the liturgical year. They also choose charities for school to fund raise for.

Caritas Ambassadors

St Michael’s became a Caritas Ambassador School in 2021. 8 Year 5 children took on the challenge to be leaders of social action in the school and responsible for sharing the Catholic Social Teaching Principles (Dignity, Option for the poor, Community & Participation, Care for creation, Solidarity & Peace and Dignity of the workers) with the school. They wrote their own pledge at the beginning of what they wanted to achieve as Ambassadors.

The following year, the whole of Year 5 took on this responsibility to share the work of Caritas Westminster with others. This was so that they would have an increased understanding of the issues faced by our local community and how they and their fellow pupils can address these and how to ensure that everyone has their fair share.

The Caritas Ambassadors have undertaken learning about each of the Catholic Social Teaching Principles and have developed their own ideas and have taken responsibility in creating and running a social action project. They thought about how they could give their time and skills to support those in need, such as, working with Echelford Care Home.
