Our maintained school nursery was established in February 2016. Our vision for the nursery is to provide a gateway to learning for as many children as possible at a younger age.
By establishing the nursery, we have been able to extend our educational provision to 2, 3 and 4 year old children. This was an exciting development for our school and our local Catholic community. The nursery is very much part of our school and is led by a qualified teacher and highly qualified teaching assistants in the role of key workers. The positive impact of this level of expertise has been evident in the children that have continued their education at the school.
The feedback from our parents has been overwhelmingly positive and we are oversubscribed each year.
The nursery is a safe, bright, nurturing pre-school setting overseen by our whole school EYFS leader. We offer a well organised, creative, playful, stimulating learning environment in a purpose built nursery classroom and numerous outdoor spaces where children have the opportunity to explore, to be challenged, to be curious, to experiment, to investigate, to discover and to grow spiritually with their friends. The children follow the national EYFS curriculum through a child led approach. We focus learning on current topical events and the children's own interests to stimulate their creativity in learning and support them to meet their early learning goals.
The nursery operates during term-time and provision is split into two separate classes each week, this is to allow as many children as possible to access their 15 hours entitlement. There are three intakes during the academic year, September, January and May depending on availability in the nursery classes at that time and the age of your child.
Turtles class: Monday 9:00am - 3:00pm, Tuesday 9:00am - 3:00pm, Wednesday 8:45am - 11:45am
Dolphins class: Wednesday 12:15pm-3:15pm, Thursday 9:00am - 3:00pm, Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm
If there are spaces available, we are sometimes in the position to offer 30 hours ‘full-time’ provision each week, with that child being a member of both classes.
