Pupil Chaplaincy

Our Followers and Liturgy Leaders

Pupil Chaplaincy

Our school Chaplaincy Team consists of Liturgy Leaders (Year 6) and Followers (1 child from each class in Years 1-6) This group of children support the prayer life of the school and co-ordinate the child led charity work in the school. The Liturgy Leaders lead collective worships throughout the liturgical year and are supported by the Followers. Together they encourage children to participate in different acts of worship in class and as a whole school. They both encourage the school to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and aim to support the poor and lonely and help spread the faith by their example in our community and to our global neighbours.

Caritas Ambassadors

St Michael’s became a Caritas Ambassador School in 2021 with the support and guidance of Sister Silvana from Caritas. Each year, the children in Year 5 immerse themselves in the aspects of Catholic Social Teaching during their first topic of the school year. The children work towards a deeper understanding of the six themes of Catholic Social Teaching and then plan and implement a project aimed at restoring an aspect of Catholic Social Teaching that the children have witnessed to be missing in our local community.

Previously, our Caritas Ambassadors have: made links with the elderly at Echelforde Care Home, they have collected items for the Caritas Advent Calendar, planted new flowers around the school and informed the school community about the importance of buying Fairtrade items through running a stall and handing out leaflets. This ambassador’s project always shows how much our children are true citizens of our community and eager to work towards the common good.
